CHRISTMAS GINGERBREAD TREE

This year, I - for the very first time - decided to bake a quite difficult gingerbread Christmas tree. I found the recipe here. Even though it was a lot of stress, it paid off in the end. Now it is a great Christmas decoration on our window! And it also smells nice. Have you ever tried it, too?

MERRY CHRISTMAS 2020

Hello everyone! I hope that you are enjoying the Christmas Eve. I've got a few photos for you for now, not everything is captured there, only a bit and some details capturing the atmosphere. Today there is yet one Christmas Eve waiting for me, with my dear, which I am also looking forward to. Otherwise I got very nice things from my Mom and my sister. You can definitely expect yet one more post. Is there something that made you the happiest today? (it does not have to be material) Let me know in the comments!

NICHOLAS SPARKS: MILÝ JOHNE (DEAR JOHN)

Last month, I finally finished reading this great novel by N. Sparks. I have seen the film, too, and I liked that as well as the book. I have seen many of the films based on N. Sparks' books and I liked them all. Have you ever read this book nor seen the film? Further in the post, there are snippets from the book which I liked :) (I am sorry, but in Czech language only.)

CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING CLOTHES & TREKKING SHOES

Since me and my love like to go hiking, I bought a new pair of waterproof shoes which will come in handy in winter. And when there is snow, we want to try out cross-country skiing which I never did before, but I am ready now - I have got new clothes and I am looking forward. Everything is from Decathlon. Do you like winter sports?

RUE DE L'UNIVERSITÉ

So today, I have got the very last outfit from Paris. This is from when we made it to Rue de l'Université, which is located in the 7th arrondisement and is named after the Parisian university. This is also where we almost finished our all-day on-foot wandering around the city. Then we made it to the top of the Eiffel Tower. Do you like the photos?

MY FAVOURITES

Today, I would like to show you some of my favourite products which I like using, even though I have got them for the first time. As first, I have to mention eau de toilette Miss Dior, which I got from my love. It smells gently, like flowers and I really like it. Continue reading!

MUSÉE DU LOUVRE

What was your weekend like? Ours was wonderful, we went to a lookout tower "Na Kotli" and we also went to see waterfalls near Spálené Poříčí. We had a great time and we also cooked a lot of tasty dishes. Today, I have got the last but one look from Paris from last year. We did not go to Louvre in the end (we wanted to see Mona Lisa), but even from the outside it was nice. And also when we returned home, I found out that there are two cafés near Louvre - Le Café Marly and Angelina Paris Musée du Louvre. We did not visit neither one of them, but I do not mind at all, we enjoyed Paris anyway. Have you ever been inside of Louvre?

PONT ALEXANDRE III

Here are some more photos from Paris from last year, photographed on the Bridge of Alexandre III. This bridge across the Seine river connects the 8. and 7. arrondisement. It is named after a russian Tsar who had concluded the Franco-Russian Alliance. It has been classified as a French monument historique. I really like it! It is the most extraordinary among the other bridges. I am very happy for these photos - with the iron lady in the background - thank you for being able to make me laugh :) Do you like them?

WALKING AROUND PARIS IN AUTUMN

Here are some yet unpublished photos from our last year's trip to Paris in autumn. Due to the cold weather I am basically wearing still the same clothes, so I am posting the photos all together. And in the upcoming days, I will add yet three separate posts. We walked the whole Paris, from the river banks of Seine river to Sacré-Cœur. I also had an idea to throw small rocks into the St. Martin canal, which I am very happy for :) I have to say once again that nobody has ever taken such beautiful photos of me... It really is possible only when the one photographing you loves you... Do you like the photos?

SOUPE A L'OIGNON GRATINÉE

First of all, I want to thank you so much for your comments and feedback! :) I really am grateful for it.
In today's post, I want to show you photos of my french onion soup (
soupe à l'oignon gratinée) that I cooked on Monday for the first time. It took me loads of time (the caramelization of the onion circa 1 hour), but it was tasty! And I saved a piece of the fresh baguette so it was a very hearty and tasty dinner. I was cooking according to a recipe by Cuketka. I only pity that I did not have the right bowls - e.g. this one with a lion's head from Butlers. Have you ever tried to cook this soup, or tasted it?

CHERRY PRINTED BLOUSE

How is your Sunday going? Now I am not a shopaholic at all and even the less when it comes to e-shops, I rather wear the clothes I already have. But on Friday, I received my package from Simple Retro, which is a New York based shop selling vintage clothes in a high quality. I ordered a dress, a sweater and this blouse. I really like it! Be sure to check out their website and let me know what you think of this style!

Me and the colourful autumn leaves. Do you like this outfit? And how are you spending these days? I noticed one particular intresting thing... In the picture, a person can smile from ear to ear and actually does not have to be really happy.

AUTUMN WALK AND READING

It was quite warm outside (for an autumn). This autumn, I began to enjoy going for walks a lot almost every day even when it is not nice outside. During one of my walks I took these photos. What are you reading at the moment? I finished "Sama sebou" by Vlastina Svátková and "Predictably Irrational" by Dan Ariely. The first book is a "diary" and an autobiography, it was relatable to me in many ways. The second book is from a field called behavioral economics, my first one on this topic and I am happy to have read it! I learned lots of useful information. It was written by a professor of behavioral economics, it describes a human with all of his flaws, based on his own experiments and also gives tips on how to avoid mistakes and irrational behavior, or at least how to try to. In the book, he demonstrates how to make better decisions and outsmart marketing. "Do you also think you have your life decisions under control? This book will show you that you do not. When making decisions, there are lots of hidden irrational factors that have an influence on us - from wild emotions to social norms and prejudices to refined marketing tricks."

BLUE & ANIMAL PRINT

How are your spending this Sunday? Today I have got an outfit for you, shot during the summer in June. Ideal for a city stroll. I was wearing white tank top with a white blouse, and a new blue skirt from Orsay. Colour blue is definitely my most favourite, and to my liking it is also a colour of year 2020. On the contrary, I am not a big fan of animal prints, however I think this small belt fits great with the skirt. What do you think of the look?

24TH BIRTHDAY

It's not everyday that you turn 24! We celebrated my birthday in Italy, near Rodi Garganico, in Puglia. My celebration 1 700 km away from home! During my lifetime, I had my last birthday celebration when I was a little girl. So this was a big event for me since I did not have one for many years. I've had some sweets from pasticceria, with a candle, and also a great dinner. Plus a walk along the beach with the sun slowly setting in. I was so grateful and honoured to experience this. Thank you for the celebration...

Z FILMU "PAS SON GENRE"

... Kdepak, o tohle už nestojím. Ale pořád věřím na lásku. Čekám na tu velkou lásku. Čekám na svýho prince. Je to hloupý, co? ... Je. Ale Váhy už jsou takový. Vždycky budu snílek.

TRATTORIA IN PUGLIA

Trattoria, as I wrote before, is an Italian restaurant which produces most of their meals (their own meat, fruit, vegetables,...). And it is also usually cheaper than a regular restaurant. We were sitting outside and the place, with the lit candles and the overall atmosphere, was very romantic. There was a lot of food and by the end, we were full. Completely!! The only meal I did not like was a horse meat - that was difficult for me to eat. Enjoy the photos!

THE FOOD OF PUGLIA (SALENTO)

During our holidays in Italia, Puglia (an Italian region with the capital city: Bari), we tasted their traditional cuisine. It consisted, of course, mainly of seafood. My favourites are langoustines. We also had caprese - a salad - dominating with its tree main colours of Italy: red, green and white. But this is not captured in the photos, unfortunately. Enjoy!

DINNER IN PUGLIA'S TRATTORIA

Trattoria is a restaurant where they produce most of their meals on their own. There is a farm where they have farm animals, they grow their vegetables, fruit,... And it's usually for a better price. That is where we went one evening and here is what I wore!

BAIA DEI TURCHI, PUGLIA, ITALIA

This beach is said to be the most beautiful Italian beach. The colour of the sea was beautifully blue, but as we could have supposed, it was overcrowded. We got there by bus, which is not the only way, but we found out about that later. Then after we arrived, we had to walk a while to get to the beach. I do not regret visiting it! It was very nice. However, a few kilometres away on foot, we found a beach with much less people, even though the sand was a bit black. Enjoy the photos!

A WALK TO OTRANTO

These photos capture our walk through the dry landscape of Puglia to Otranto. The cicale (cicadas) were screaming all around us, but I acommodated to that sound very quickly. It was a nice walk, though a bit scary since there was no one around there, only plain lands and dry grass everywhere. It was very hot again, but my hat made it better. Enjoy the photos!

OUR HOME IN UGGIANO LA CHIESA

Here are photos that portray our holiday home in a town called Uggiano la Chiesa, in Puglia, near Otranto. The house belonged to an Italian man called Luciano, who came to give us the keys together with his son. They said we were the first people to rent their house for holidays! Everything was nice and new, and very colourful which I liked a lot. The climate was very hot, since the early morning the heat hit you in the face the first time you opened the terrace door. On the terrace (which was quite big) was a dining table and an extra shower (for when you come back from a beach with sand all over you). In the evening, it was very nice to sit there and listen to the cicale (cicadas), it was, in a way, romantic and calming. Overall, it was a very nice stay and I recommend it to you! Otranto was nearby (a nice walk through the dry landscape of Puglia), and the house was called A Casa di Luciano.

FIRST EVENING IN OTRANTO, PUGLIA

Right when we brought our bags and luggage to our holiday home, we went out to the city of Otranto for a little exploration! There is one word that describes the city to me: white. All the houses were light, white. Well, see for yourself! We arrived in the evening, so we were a bit tired, but it was a nice walk/ride.

FOIE GRAS AUX FIGUES

Recently, we have discovered this foie gras with figues with my love at Makro. So we have agreed that we are going to give it a try. Last year, we have made our own homemade foie gras, which was the best and cannot be compared. But I have to say that this one is good, too. It was made by a French producer, Lucien Georgelin, who, besides, also produces spreads and marmalades.
Have you ever tasted foie gras?

HOTEL "U ZLATÝCH NŮŽEK"

We have spent 2 days in Prague with my love, after a long time of the ban to travel and the restrictions. We have stayed at a beautiful hotel U Zlatých nůžek, located at "Na Kampě 494/6" at the picturesque Lesser Town. Our room was great, we have had a view with the Kampa park, the Vltava river and the Charles Bridge. Right under the hotel was also a great and famous restaurant, Červená sedma. In my opinion, the Lesser Town is one of the most beautiful areas in Prague and I am very glad we have stayed just there. The staff of the hotel was nice and helpful. Our breakfast was served in a very nice place, it included eggs, sweet pastry, salami, hams, marmelades, müsli,... It would be great to have a flat like this right in this location :) I also have to note that there were almost no tourists in the whole city of Prague and we even walked the Charles Bridge at night all alone!
Let me know what do you think of the photos of the hotel, the room & the view!

9th May was a day when Mother's Day was celebrated. That is why I got these 3 tulips for my Mom with a bow and a small decoration.
In The Czech Republic, Mother's Day is celebrated the second Sunday in May. It is celebrated worldwide on different dates. Many traditional celebrations of mothers and motherhood have existed throughout the world over thousands of years, such as the Greek cult to Cybele, the mother of god Rhea.
What was your present?
When we were at the florist's when returning from Prague, my sweetheart also bought me roses, I was very happy :)

AFRICAN SOUP WITH PEANUT BUTTER

Thanks to a certain documentary, I have discovered this recipe on Lucka's blog on how to make this original, exotic soup. I was scared to see how this is going to turn out, will it be tasty, good, will I make it? (Especially after my last fail with a "beer soup", which was a bad pick.) Luckily it tasted great, it was lightly spicy, but sweet at the same time with a bit of a salty taste. Now spicy meals are not everyone's cup of tea, but I have to say that this soup is definitely worth it. I totally recommend you to try it, too!

PARISIAN STREET ART

One of the things that I liked the most about Paris was for me - as an art lover - the street art at every step. I notice the details more, my dear would not notice these images most of the time, but that is why we complement each other. Are you fans of street art?

BALCONY AT MERCURE PARIS PLACE D'ITALIE

When I think of Paris, the first thing that comes to my mind are black-and-white photos of Parisian boulevards and little streets. That is why I decided to edit these photos in such style. They were taken from our balcony. As I mentioned in the previous post, we visited Paris last year in autumn. We stayed in a beautiful hotel Mercure Paris Place d'Italie, which was located on 25 Boulevard Auguste Blanqui in the 13th arrondissement. Our room was pretty, with one whole wall covered with a poster with models/ballerinas. I really liked our little balcony, from where I liked to watch the people in the streets. In the evening, the lightning Eiffel Tower was seen a bit, too. I still cannot believe I have been to Paris and seen all of the architecture, white buildings, balconies, small shops... Everything that I only admired from a distance, in the pictures, for years. And whatsmore - I got to see Paris in autumn, which was also my dream.
